Mid Ohio Alternative Animal and Bird Sale - 5 November 2010 - 8:00am
The Mid Ohio Alternative Animal and Bird Sale is held 3 times a year. Animals range anywhere from domestic to exotic with over 200 different species being offered for sale. The auction is governed by USDA officials and all animals and birds must meet requirements in compliance with the Ohio Wildlife Laws and the Dept of Animal Industry of Ohio. All out of state animals must have an entry permit and Health Certificates. This information can be obtained from your local veterinarian or the Dept of Animal Industry in Ohio 614-728-6220. 8:00 AM Main ring: Peafowl, Waterfowl, Pheasants, Bob White.
Warm Room begins at 10:00AM. Monkeys, Gennets, Bears, Kangaroos, Wallaby, Exotic Birds, Hedgehogs, Hamsters Exotic Birds. Fur bearing animals sell after warm room and birds, followed by Reptiles, etc. Swans followed by Kangaroo and Wallaby sell at 6:00PM or when cages are completed. Sometimes between 4-5 in November Sale.
Ring 2: 9:30 AM Exotic Sheep, Goats, followed by Russian Hogs
Ring 3: 9:00 AM Domestic Animals under tent. Rabbits, Chickens, Ducks, Turkeys, etc.
Empty cages, stands, fencing, etc. sell at 10:00 AM on outside
30 day old Olive baboon on bottle
2 yr old Vervet monkey- bottle raised
Note: All out of state animals must have Health Papers and an entry permit. Health Papers can be issued at the auction for Ohio consignments only. To obtain an entry permit, contact the Dept Of Animal Industry @ 614-728-6220. All equine must have Coggins test upon arrival from all states including Ohio.
Note: A USDA license is required for all sellers and buyers of Exotic Cats, Bears, and some Primates (Baboons, Orangutans, Goriillas and Chimpanzees) for this sale. This is not a USDA law, but a rule enforced at all Mid Ohio Alternative Livestock Sales.
Buyers: Please be informed of your States Requirements for all animals you hope or intend to purchase. Each state is different, it is your responsibility to know your laws.
